The Oversize Certificate is authorized for rolling steel doors for the protection of openings in fire walls, vertical shafts and exterior walls where the area exceeds 152 square ft., or for openings in the above locations when width or height exceeds 13’6”x12’. The maximum dimensions for doors for standard fire
protection provided with the Oversize Fire Door Certificate are not to exceed 56 ft. in width and 24 ft. in height.Doors are constructed to conform within requirements specified by Underwriter’s Laboratories. Inc. (U.L.). Doors are automatic and self-closing, Class (A) (B) (C) (D) or oversized certificate.
4 hour - Approved for doors with openings not exceeding 162 sq. ft. in area.
Class (A) - 3 hour approved for doors in dividing fire walls with openings not exceeding 120 sq. ft. in area. Class (B) - 1.5 hour approved for doors, in vertical shaft openings not exceeding 120 sq. ft. in area. Class (C) - 0.75 hour approved for doors in a corridor or a room-partition opening not exceeding 120 sq. ft. in area. Class (D) - 1.5 hour approved for doors in an exterior wall opening not exceeding 120 sq. ft. in area.

APPLICATION AND USE
Auto-Fire-Tite IMB Doors as manufactured by Alpine are ideal for use in School
Cafeteria’s, Healthcare Facilities, Hospitals, Chemical Warehouses and Airport
Concession Displays.


GENERAL
Rolling Auto-Fire-Tite IMB Doors manufactured by Alpine are classified for up to
a 4 hour fire rating and may also be installed in openings requiring a lower rating. They carry the label of Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc., (U.L.), Classified. FM Approved for Fire Rating up to and including 3 hours. Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access doors, finish
or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect
switches are in the Scope of Work of other divisons or trades.


FUNCTIONAL BENEFITS
Designed for a safer, slower, uniform closing speed of approximately six inches
per second. All resetting is completed at the floor level with a touch of the “open” button on the control station. Refer to the motor/operator section of the catalog to view and select the Alpine Redi-Reset Operator for your door project.

CURTAIN
Curtains shall be constructed of 7/8” thick interlocking, roll-formed Insulated
Metal Back (IMB) V7 slats. The curtain shall be equiped with a bottom bar
consisting of two roll-formed angles measuring a minimum of 2” x 2” x 1/8”, one on each side, securely fastened to the bottom of the curtain for reinforcement and to provide contact against the sill when closed. Option: ASTM-240 Stainless Steel 300 Series.


BRACKETS
Made from steel plate no less than 1/4” thick. Ball bearing at rotating support
points. Bolted to guide wall angle extension, supports counterbalance
assembly and forms an end enclosure.


HOOD HEXAGON (Square or Round OPTIONAL)
Manufactured from #22 gauge galvanized steel and formed to fit the contour of
the brackets. Intermediate supports are used as required in order to prevent
excessive sag. (Option: stainless steel)


GUIDES
Guides are designed using structural steel angles with a minimum thickness of 3/16”, 1 1/4” slotted connections, and removable bellmount curtain stops to allow for curtain maintenance without removal of the guides. Bellmount stops shall be flush with the guide groove.

COUNTERBALANCE ASSEMBLY
The steel pipe barrel is a size capable of carrying a curtain load with a max.
deflection of 0.03” per foot opening width. The helical torsion spring is encased
in a barrel designed to require minimum effort to operate the rolling curtain and
bottom bar. A Torsion Spring charge wheel is used for applying spring torque and for future adjustments. Option: Stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized.

OPERATION
Choice of push-up, hand chain, hand-crank, or motor operation. The door can be activated by a fusible link, a thermal sensor, a fire alarm system or a smoke
detector without the need for a mechanical release device system.


LOCKING
Optional padlockable slide locks available for latching and locking the door on the coil side of the bottom bar. Electric Interlocks required with motorized doors.


FINISHES (Optional)
Finish on steel to be shop coated primer, except galvanized surfaces. Stainless steel, mill finish #2B, #4 satin, polished or mill finish. Call for color options and finishes


GALVANIZING
To be applied to the guides, brackets, pipe shafts and gears in addition to the standard specifications. Applied where conditions of extreme or unusual atmospheric contamination is present. In accordance with ASTM: A123.
