APPLICATION USE
Insulated, sound resistant door protection for use in warehouse facilities, storage buildings, music recording studios as well as many other applications.  These soundproof doors are a primary replacement option for room dividers, side wall doors, side wall stacking doors, sliding doors, and rolling soundproof doors.

BOTTOM BARS
Bottom bars for this soundproof door are available as double angle bottom bars or tubular models fabricated from brass, copper, galvanized, aluminum, stainless steel, hot-rolled steel or powder coated.  Available options include weather strip, brush/smoke seal, pneumatic edge, electric edge, or wireless edge.  Locking devices available on these soundproof doors include slide locks, cylinder locks, or our new cylinder/slide lock combination.

BRACKET PLATES
The bracket plates on these soundproof, sound resistant doors can be brass, copper, hot rolled A36, stainless steel, galvanized, or powder coated.   Optional shapes include square, round, or hexagon.  Available options:  internal charge or external charge wheel, prep for motor, hand chain gearing, interior or exterior operation with a thru-wall drop plate, single or double hand chain gear reduce dependent on door sizes and specifications.  The soundproof door also has an optional stop lock bearing safety feature which prevents the door from free falling in the event that the drive chain breaks.

COUNTERBALANCE ASSEMBLY
The pipe shaft on the soundproof doors are fabricated using seamless black wall pipe A36/ASTM 500, with options for hot-dipped galvanized steel or  stainless steel.  The  life cycle of the torsion spring assembly ranges from 17.5 to 400M based on your required specifications and usage.

CURTAIN OPTIONS
The curtains on the soundproof doors can be fabricated using galvanized steel as a standard with options for stainless steel, aluminum, galvalume, prime painted galvanized steel, or powder coated in house choosing from 188 mfg. standard colors.   (Custom colors and textures are also available.)  An available perforated soundproof curtain with PVC backing for the sound resistant door increases the sound density.  The standard curtain has cast end locks with optional stainless steel or brass stamped end locks.

GUIDE MATERIAL
These soundproof doors come standard with ASTM A36/A529 structural steel guides which can be embedded in the side wall  to create the appearance of a room divider.   Guides are also available in galvanized steel, extruded aluminum, and stainless steel which can all be powder coated.  Optional mounting conditions include face mount, between jamb mount,  tube mount or pack outs which require additional finishing work to maintain the soundproofing quality of this sound resistant door.  Soundproof guide seals and brush/smoke seals are additional available options.

HOOD/COVER
The hood/cover on the soundproof doors is available in round, square or hexagon shapes and are fabricated using galvanized steel as a standard with options for brass, copper, stainless steel, aluminum, galvalume, prime painted, or powder coated.  Drive and charge covers are available in the shapes and material to match the hood.  Back fascias are recommended for certain applications  Additional options for sound resistance include hood baffles, lintel seals, and smoke lintel seals.   Available accessories for the hood covers include motor mounting clips and motor covers.

MATERIAL STYLE
The “Insul-Sound” sound resistant door can be fabricated using steel ranging from 24 gauge through 16 gauge on the front slats with standard white dual durometer PVC on the back slats.   The soundproof quality is achieved using standard polystyrene board with an option for polyurethane foam injection filling.

OPERATION OF DOOR
The sound resistant door and rolling soundproof doors can be operated using hand chain, hand crank, or motor operators including the worm gear Redi-Master operator or a belt-driven Redi-Lift model as appropriate for your application.

Insul-Sound HP® rolling sound doors comply with the 08330 construction specifications. This is a specially constructed door for sound insulation with a new type of slat. This new slat provides for a full thermal break between the inside and outside of the slat. This sound resistant door has an R-value of 8.0 and is available for custom wind load designs. D. Counterbalance Assembly: Torsion

1. Counterbalance assembly: Steel pipe barrel of a size capable of carrying a curtain load with a maximum deflection of 0.03” per foot of door width. Heat-treated helical torsion springs encased in a steel pipe and designed to include an overload factor of 25% to ensure minimum effort to operate. Sealed and prelubricated high speed ball bearing at rotating support points. Torsion spring charge wheel for applying spring torque and for future adjustments.

1. Provide crank hoist operator including crank gear box, steel crank drive shaft and geared reduction unit. Fabricate gear box to completely enclose operating mechanism and be oil-tight.

a) Medium-Duty, Alpine® Model Redi-Hoist™ driven by efficient V-belt primary
drive with chain/sprocket secondary. Maximum ½ hp. For use on doors up to 10’ x 10’.

b) Industrial-Duty, Alpine® Model Redi-Lift™ driven by heavy-duty V-belt with
chain/sprocket secondary reduction. Optional auxiliary chain hoist. Maximum 1 hp. For use on doors up to 12’ x 12’.

c) Heavy Industrial-Duty, Alpine® Model Redi-Master™ driven by heavy-duty worm gear in oil bath reduction. Standard auxiliary chain hoist. Standard ½ hp (maximum 3 hp)

d) Redi-Tube® Tubular Motor with Built-In Manual Handcrank Overdrive. Auxiliary chain hoist not available. For use on doors up to 10’ x 8’.

e) Redi-Midget® Gear Reduced Jackshaft Door Operator.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Verify that dimensions are correct and project conditions are in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions; do not proceed with installation until unacceptable conditions have been corrected.

3.02 INSTALLATION of Side Coiling Doors, Side Coiling Grilles, Side Wall Doors, Rolling Doors

A. Install units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

B. Ensure that units are installed plumb and true, free of warp or twist, and within tolerances specified by manufacturer for smooth operation.

3.03 FIELD TESTING

A. Test doors for regular operation.

3.04 DEMONSTRATION of Side Coiling Doors, Side Coiling Grilles, Side Wall Doors, Rolling Doors

A. Instruct the Owner’s personnel in correct operation and maintenance of units.

3.05 ADJUST AND CLEAN

A. Clean units in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

B. Restore slight blemishes in finishes in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions to match original finish. Remove and provide new units where repairs are not acceptable to the Architect.

Alpine introduces a sound-resistant door with Insul-Sound® insulated slats. This new slat for these rolling soundproof doors provide for a full thermal break between the inside and outside of the slat. The back of the sound resistant door is made of hard, weather resistant PVC. The inside of the rolling sound doors provide a full sound barrier for thermal protection. The front slat is available in 22, 20, and 18 gauge steel, or B.S. Aluminum with a variety of finishes that are perfect as room dividers or as replacements for side wall doors.

Alpine Insul-Sound® soundproof door curtains consist of 2- 3/4″ roll formed flat slats with snapped on PVC.  Slats are available in galvanized,  stainless steel, or aluminum in gauges from 22 gauge to 16 gauge.  These insulated core backing doors can be hand-crank, hand-chain or sound resistant door motor operated.  All types of operation can be adapted to specific conditions. Locking devices are available options on many soundproof doors including room dividers and doors that can replace side wall doors.
