Alpine Overhead Doors Celebrates 50 Years of Excellence

East Setauket, NY 2/1/2022 – Alpine Overhead Doors, Inc., a leading manufacturer of rolling overhead doors, proudly announces its 50th anniversary. What started as a local service company has grown into a full-scale door manufacturing enterprise serving clients across the United States and around the world.

The company’s roots reach back to 1972, when Alpine Ornamental Ironworks was formed by Vincent Magro and family. Vincent’s brother Sebastian joined soon afterward. During these earlier years, the company specialized in manufacturing and installing ornamental railings, security guards, steel stairs, beams and porches.

In 1976, Sebastian designed and manufactured one of the first child-safety window guards which was approved by the NYC Department of Health. One year later, Vincent and Sebastian saw a bigger opportunity and began to shift their focus toward assembling and installing rolling doors. Moving forward, the company would be known as Alpine Overhead Doors, Inc.

In 1981, they took another big step and started manufacturing rolling door components including roll-formed profiles, slats, tracks, and guides. In 1987, the company further evolved to focus on designing and manufacturing complete rolling door systems and components. Today, the company remains privately-held and family owned, led by Sebastian’s son, Michael Magro.

The management team attributes the company’s success to three primary things: ingenuity, a passion for engineering and early adoption of technology; backed by a team of talented, seasoned experts. For instance, in the 90’s, after Hurricane Andrew struck Florida, Alpine was one of the first companies to receive approval for doors that meet strict Metro/Dade County Regulations and wind load ratings. This includes oversized doors up to 20 feet wide, a claim most others could not make. Earlier, in the 1980’s, they were running calculations using first generation spreadsheets and custom-developed applications, which were then validated by their V.P. of Engineering, the late Paul DeGiovanni, P.E.

Alpine continues to innovate today, releasing new products that include high performance insulated and FEMA doors, the Redi-Assist™ chain hoist and more recently, the E-Series™: a line of budget-friendly versions of their most popular doors.

Sebastian Magro, Chairman, states, “Over the last 50 years, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with so many wonderful, skilled people. From our dedicated employees, consultants and supply chain partners to our loyal customers, we are very grateful to everyone that has contributed to our success.”

Michael Magro, President and CEO, says, “Looking toward the future, Alpine will continue to support its extensive customer base, and further invest in new product development, responding to marketplace demands.” He adds, “We’ve carved a unique niche for ourselves in the industry, and we plan on staying there: being big enough to deliver, but small enough to care.”
